From the church where the battlements can be seen, one must emphasize the majestic fortification surrounded by a patio of Palm trees and flowers.
The temple was born as an answer to the spiritual needs of the people who worked collecting the salt from the salt flats of Ses Salines, it is thought to have existed before the year 1577. It’s master walls are slanted and are crowned with battlements which underline it’s strong character. It is also where the neighbours hid for protection from pirate attacks. Its lateral chapels were built in the 18th century, when the temple was no longer needed for shelter against the pirate attacks.

One must make a very special mention to the neighbouring parish of Sant Francesc de S’Estany to which some of the group members belong and to whom we have a very close bond due to the proximity of the vicinity. Our very first performance took place there, making it feel part of our roots.
The church of Sant Francesc de s’Estany is situated in the natural park of Ses Salines. It was built in the 18th century, for the salt workers, in the same way as the neighbouring chapel of Sa Revista, after which the Spanish crown recuperated the explotation of the Ibicencan salt flats. The building is very simple, with a royal shield made of stone on its wall, it is proceeded by a tiny patio in the surrounded area of the flats.
Next to it one can observe a striking bronze sculpture of a saltworker, a tribute to the workers who over so many years removed and transported salt on there backs.
